The Denver Police Department drew a strong desire to create more diversification within the police officer ranks. In connecting with African Americans, we determined that accentuating great pay and benefits was merely a surface-level solution. We dug deep into meshing with the emotional opportunities to be more than an officer. It was the chance for these men and women to better represent the communities that long took care of them. It was the chance for them to be the officers they wanted to see.
